The system connection method differs depending on the computer OS. Also, the printer driver installation method differs depending on the protocol being used.
The only connection method for this system is a network connection. Configuring the connection allows you to use this system as a network printer.
This method is available for 1000Base-T, 100Base-TX, and 10Base-T standards. It also supports the following protocols: TCP/IP (LPD/LPR, SMB), Bonjour and others.
The protocols which can be used differs depending on the computer OS.
For details, refer to the following.
Installable printer driver | Setup Method | Connection Method | |
---|---|---|---|
PS Plug-in Driver PCL Driver | Installer | Port 9100 | A network connection using Port 9100 print services. Uses TCP/IP protocol and RAW for the print ports. |
IPP | A network connection using IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) print services. It is possible to make prints using TTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) of the TCP/IP protocol via Internet. | ||
PS Plug-in Driver PPD Driver PCL Driver | [Add a printer] wizard | LPR | A network connection using LPR (Line PRinter daemon) print services. Uses TCP/IP protocols and LPR for the print ports. |
Port 9100 | A network connection using Port 9100 print services. Uses TCP/IP protocol and RAW for the print ports. | ||
SMB | A network connection with SMB (Server Message Block) that allows file sharing and printer sharing via Windows. Supports the TCP/IP protocols. | ||
IPP/IPPS | A network connection using IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) print services. It is possible to make prints using HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) of the TCP/IP protocol via Internet. IPPS is an IPP that performs encrypted communication using SSL. | ||
Web service print | A connection compatible with the Web service function, which automatically detects and connects the applicable printer on the network. |
