Maintaining the environment in which the system is installed helps ensure stable performance.
Failure to meet the recommended humidity levels (40% RH to 60% RH) for the system's installation environment can result in issues such as paper jams and image defects. Take the appropriate action with reference to the information given below.
- If Humidity is High
Case Example | Countermeasure | Description/Reference Page |
---|---|---|
Condensation forms inside the system, causing it to malfunction | Use a dehumidifier | Place and run the dehumidifier next to the system. Be sure not to install the dehumidifier so that its exhaust port is facing towards the system. |
The paper swells in size due to moisture, causing a paper jam | Use recently unsealed paper | Use paper unsealed as recently as possible. Wrap any remaining paper back in its protective wrapping to avoid a situation in which it absorbs moisture from the air. |
- If Humidity is Low
Case Example | Countermeasure | Description/Reference Page |
---|---|---|
Heat and pressure during the printing reduces the moisture content in the paper, causing it to curl up | Use Humidifier HM-103 | Adds moisture evenly on both sides of the paper, and adjusts the moisture content in the paper after printing to reduce any curling. Humidifier HM-103 is an optional device. For details, refer to Optional Part Names and Specifications for Paper Output. |
Static causes the sheets of paper to stick together, causing a paper jam | Use a humidifier | Place and run the humidifier slightly away from the system. Be sure not to install the humidifier so that its exhaust port is facing towards the system. If using an ultrasonic humidifier Use water that is free from impurities such as deionized water. Using tap water or similarly contaminated water can result in the impurities in the water being dispersed into the surroundings, potentially resulting in poor image quality. |
Separate the paper before use | Be sure to thoroughly separate out the paper before loading the feed tray. For details about how to separate paper, refer to Using Paper. |
